Foot coverings for Gymnastics

As we have mentioned in our return letter it will be COMPULSORY for Gymnasts to wear foot coverings when taking part in our indoor activity. This is something that our venue requires.

Foot coverings can include SOCKS WITH ANTI-SLIP BOTTOMS or GYMNASTICS SHOES. Below are some links to websites. Make sure Gym shoes are well fitted, loose fitting shoes could cause trip hazards. Gymnasts will NOT be able to take part without these.

Our recommendations:

Milano pro sport: Shoes

Decathlon: Shoes

Amazon: Anti-slip socks

Thank you

Our outdoor ‘Keeping in touch’ sessions have come to an end but we would like to say thank you to all the Gymnasts who attended and their parents who made arrangements on short notice in order for their children to attend. We were also very lucky with the weather… IT DID NOT RAIN ON US ONCE!
The Swanage Gymnastics coaching team volunteered a total of 81 individual coaching hours in order for us to stick to the recommended 1:5 Coach to Gymnast ratio for outdoor activity during the easing of lockdown. For now we are awaiting instruction from our venue for more details of a return date to indoor activity and will keep you informed as best as we can.
Keep safe, happy and healthy.
We hope to see you soon!

‘Keeping in touch’ Days

Dear Parents,

First, I would like to thank you for your supportive messages and patience during this unusual time. As you are aware due to the COVID-19 pandemic our classes had to stop abruptly, meaning there were a few weeks in the build up to the Easter holidays that had been paid for but not attended.

Due to the current government guidance on outdoor activity, we are really pleased to have been given the go ahead by British Gymnastics to start some outdoor activity with our Gymnasts. We intend to start replacing the missed sessions through a series of ‘Keeping in touch’ days. This activity must respect social distancing rules and a maximum of 6 people meeting in a cluster. Gymnasts will be contacted and invited to their session via email. Sessions are most likely to run during weekends. Within your invitation you will find a full set of guidelines that we would like you to read through carefully so that we can be sure all participants, parents and coaches are kept safe and well while we run these socially distanced outdoor activity sessions!

Though it won’t be what our Gymnasts are used to and classes will not be as regular as we would like, we hope that the ‘Keeping in touch’ days will be a welcome start in getting our Gymnasts motivated, moving and back to what they enjoy!

Kind regards,
Hannah Nicolson- Head Coach
