Opportunities at Swanage Gymnastics

Judges

Requirements:

Level 1 Floor and Vault Judging (Provided by the club)

DBS (Provided by the club)

British Gymnastics Membership (Organised by the club)

Voluntary

Role description:

Judging is an important voluntary role. In order to enter competitions, clubs must provide judges. The judges role is to attend competitions alongside the Swanage gymnastics team. Competitions are usually held on a Sunday and the club competes approx. 3-4 times a year. Expenses can be paid and judges are also welcomed into classes in the lead up to a competition to watch routines and consult with current club judges. When new to the role a judge may come along to a competition and shadow a judging panel to learn the basics before attending a judging course.

WHO?

Somebody with a basic knowledge of gymnastics, for example an ex-gymnast or someone who has coached previously. Ages 14 +

Future:

With experienced gained through regular judging, further training is available through British gymnastics opening the doors to judging different levels and disciplines e.g Tumbling Judging

Freestyle Gymnastics Assistant

Requirements:

DBS (Provided by the club)

Safeguarding (Preferred but can be provided by the club)

Voluntary (Can be discussed based upon qualifications)

Role description:

To assist with regular classes aimed towards Freestyle Gymnastics (Parkour, Free running, Gymnastics). To arrive 5 mins before the class starts to help set up activities and welcome gymnasts in. To be an assistant to the lead coaches during the activities in the class. Thursday evenings 7-8pm, The Swanage School sports hall.

WHO?

A friendly, approachable person who has an interest in getting involved with the club. Somebody who has an interest in gaining qualifications that enable them to assist in a variety of gymnastics classes including Freestyle Gymnastics. Experience with children preferred. Ages 16 +

Future:

With experienced gained through regular volunteering, further training is available through British gymnastics opening the doors to assisting in other Swanage Gymnastics classes.

General Gymnastics Assistant

Requirements:

DBS (Provided by the club)

Safeguarding (Preferred but can be provided by the club)

Role description:

To assist with regular classes aimed towards General Gymnastics. To arrive 5 mins before the class starts to help set up activities and welcome gymnasts in. To be an assistant to the lead coaches during the activities in the class. Friday evenings 6.30-7.45pm, The Swanage School sports hall.
